The Crew |
|
|
The Cook must prepare healthy nutritious meals for crew and visitors. He / she must plan menus, and maintain a record of stores onboard. The cook must also arrange to order food and supplies.
|
|
|
|
The ship’s kitchen is called the galley and the Cook must maintain a clean and sanitary galley at all times.
|
|
|

A Cook may perform the following tasks:
- Prepare the crew’s meals and drinks
- Clean cabins, lounges and other areas
- Distribute clean linen and make beds
- Attend to crew’s needs such as laundry, dispatching messages and answering queries.
- Ships’ catering attendants work on passenger and cargo ships.
The work can be physically demanding and involves long periods at sea. |
