In this section we learned a lot about the weather and how important it is for sailors.

We also learned about meteorology and weather forecasting and listened to some forecasts where we heard some of the language used in the Beaufort Scale of Wind Force.

We are now familiar with some of the types of weather described in the Beaufort Scale:

• Calm
• Moderate Breeze
• Strong Breeze
• Gale
• Storm
• Hurricane

In addition we now know something about the interesting life of Francis Beaufort, the Irishman whose contribution to the science of weather lives on.
